Dom Flemons: The American Songster Live in Concert

  • Museum of the Mississippi Delta 1608 U.S. 82 Greenwood, MS, 38930 United States (map)

WARNING: This is a show not to be missed! With very generous funding support from the Mississippi Blues Foundation, we are so thrilled to finally welcome Grammy award-winning musician and scholar Dom Flemons, The American Songster, to the Hush Puppy stage.

Since he first came to public attention as a founding member of the Grammy-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops, Dom Flemons has built a repertoire that covers over a full century of American music. He is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, actor, music scholar, and historian. He is considered an expert player on the banjo, guitar, harmonica, jug, percussion, quills, fife, and rhythm bones. In fact, there might be no one alive who could teach you more about the vast sweep of American music than Dom Flemons.

About Dom Flemons: The American Songster

"Dom Flemons carries on the songster tradition, bringing to life the stories, sounds, and history of American roots music. He is a curator of culture, an extraordinary musician, and a captivating performer."
— Music Maker Foundation

Dom is part historian, part professor, and a consummate entertainer. His performances are journeys through time, connecting the dots between blues, folk, jug band, country, and early rock 'n' roll. He doesn't just play music; he tells the story of America through its songs.
