A Soundtrack to the Year: Hush Puppy Music Co-op’s 2025 in Review
What a year it was! From the "space folk" echoes in a museum to the raw, twangy energy at Old City Hall, 2025 was a season of unforgettable sounds and growing community. As we wrap up a fantastic Season 4 and look ahead, let's take a moment to revisit the musical journey we shared.
Season 3: Kicking Off with an Alabama Invasion
Electric Blue Yonder + B.B. Palmer – March 20 @ Museum of the Mississippi Delta
We shook off the winter hibernation with a "Night at the Museum" in March, partnering with the Museum of the Mississippi Delta for a family-friendly show. The evening featured the cosmic cowboy tunes of B.B. Palmer and the genre-bending "space folk" of Electric Blue Yonder, proving that our local museum is a perfect venue for a musical adventure.

Fust + Renée Reed – April 24 @ Old City Hall
In April, the dream became a reality as we welcomed one of our most anticipated acts to the Old City Hall stage: Fust. This Durham, NC band, praised by the likes of Paste Magazine and Pitchfork, lived up to the hype with their lyric-forward, loose-and-loud sound. The night was made even more magical by the hypnotic Cajun dream-folk of opener Renée Reed. This show was a landmark for us, breaking our attendance record with over 100 music lovers in the house!

Super Chikan + Ryan Lee Crosby – June 19 @ Museum of the Mississippi Delta
We closed Season 3 in June with a free community show, celebrating both the blues and Juneteenth. Blues legend Super Chikan shared stories and songs, showcasing his famous homemade "chikantar" guitars in an interview led by MVSU's AI White. The soul-stirring opening set from Ryan Lee Crosby, an apprentice of the Bentonia blues tradition, set the perfect tone for a night held within the incredible America at the Crossroads exhibit.
Season 4: A Fall to Remember
Cary Hudson + Dan Raza – September 4 @ Old City Hall
We launched our fourth season in September with a blast from Mississippi's past and a voice from across the pond. The legendary Cary Hudson (of Blue Mountain fame) shared the stage with UK’s Dan Raza for a special "Wayfarer Blues Tour" stop that felt both timeless and fresh.

Ben Sollee + Little Mazarn – October 7 @ Old City Hall
October was a month of incredible diversity. We were thrilled to host cello innovator Ben Sollee, whose shocking creativity has graced stages from Bonnaroo to the Kennedy Center. He was joined by the wonderfully unique folk duo Little Mazarn for a truly singular evening.

Cash's Juke Joint + Lady Trucker – October 30 @ Delta Emporium
Later in October, we planned a free community blues show at the Rail Spike Park Pavilion, featuring the hometown return of Lady Trucker and the sacred steel-soaked soul of Cash's Juke Joint. But as any good Mississippian knows, you must always have a "Plan B" for the weather! When the forecasts threatened rain, our team swiftly moved the show to the cool, intimate lounge setting of the Delta Emporium. The result was a fantastic, full house that introduced many of us to a wonderful new venue and partner in Carolyn Mack-Burk. It was a perfect example of the community spirit that makes live music in Greenwood so special.

FERD + Taylor Hollingsworth – November 13 @ Old City Hall
We brought the curtain down on 2025 in November with a high-energy Fall Finale. Greenville’s own FERD brought his rare blend of singer/drummer/fiddler magic, backed by a powerhouse trio. The night kicked off with a stellar opening set from Birmingham's Taylor Hollingsworth, a lead guitarist for Conor Oberst, who treated us to his unique songwriting and maybe even a Nascar t-shirt or two from his magic merchant suitcase.

Thank You for the Music!
None of this would be possible without you—our members, sponsors, volunteers, and ticket-holders. Your support fuels this homegrown, volunteer-led organization and allows us to bring world-class musicians to Greenwood. A special thanks to our partners at the Museum of the Mississippi Delta, Mississippi Valley State University, the Mississippi Arts Commission, and the Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area.
The music never stops for long. We’re already dreaming up the 2026 Spring Concert Series and can’t wait to share what’s next.
Until then, keep supporting live music. See you at the next show!
