A National Indie Tour Stops in the Delta: Wild Pink + Why Bonnie Come to Greenwood

On Thursday, March 11, 2027, Hush Puppy Music Coop presents Wild Pink with opener Why Bonnie at the Museum of the Mississippi Delta. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Music starts at 7:00 PM. All ages welcome.

This is one of the biggest shows we've ever booked and it's been over a year in the making.

Wild Pink

Wild Pink is the project of John Ross, a songwriter from Florida now based in New York. Over six albums, Ross has built a reputation as one of the most thoughtful and quietly ambitious voices in indie rock. He can move between intimate folk and full-band, arena-ready rock without ever losing the thread of the song.

His influences run deep and wide: Nirvana, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Bruce Hornsby. You can hear all of it in the music: the heartland sweep, the guitar-forward arrangements, the sense that these are songs written to be played loud in a room full of people.

That instinct is exactly what drives Still Coming Down, his sixth studio album. After years of records built for headphones and close listening, Still Coming Down is a full-band statement: louder, more direct, and designed for live performance.

His recent collaborators include MJ Lenderman, one of the most celebrated young songwriters in indie rock. That's the company he keeps.

Why Bonnie (Blair Howerton and band) bring shoe-gaze textures and Americana roots to the Museum of the Mississippi Delta on March 11.

Why Bonnie

Why Bonnie is the project of Blair Howerton, a singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Texas now based in Brooklyn. What started as a solo songwriting effort has grown into a full-band project, one that takes the intimacy of those early songs and expands them into something bigger, stranger, and more textured.

The sound sits somewhere between shoe-gaze and Americana, with a pop sensibility that keeps the songs from drifting too far into atmosphere. If you love Waxahatchee, Wednesday, Soccer Mommy, or Lucinda Williams, you'll find something to hold onto here.

Howerton writes with a clear eye and a soft touch. Her songs feel personal without being confessional, and catchy without ever feeling cheap. Live, the band brings a warmth and presence that makes the room feel smaller than it is.

Why This Show Matters

We've been trying to book Wild Pink for over a year.

It's not easy to get a nationally touring indie band to route through Greenwood, Mississippi. There are bigger markets, bigger venues, and bigger paydays within a few hours' drive. The fact that Wild Pink and Why Bonnie are stopping here — on a real tour, behind a real album, with their full bands — is something we're genuinely proud of.

This is what Hush Puppy is for. Bringing music to Greenwood that you'd otherwise have to drive to Oxford, Jackson, or Memphis to see. Turning a Thursday night into something worth remembering.

We hope you'll be in the room.
